  • Location: Ghoramara & Sagar Islands, Sunderban, South 24 Parganas, West Bengal
  • Target Group: Children (6–14 years) affected by climate displacement

Overview

These centres address the compounded learning and psychosocial needs of children displaced or marginalised due to the escalating impacts of climate change. The lack of consistent access to safe learning spaces and supportive environments exacerbates learning gaps and stunts cognitive, emotional and social development. SEED’s Comprehensive Education Centres provide a stable, nurturing and child-friendly space where these vulnerable children can regain a sense of normalcy, catch up on missed learning, receive psychosocial support and build resilience to thrive despite the climate challenges.

Key Activities:

  • Remedial learning and accelerated education for out-of-school and dropped-out children.
  • School readiness and mainstreaming support for transitioning children into government schools.
  • Life skills & resilience education to help children cope with trauma and displacement.
  • Psychosocial support through structured play, group therapy and counselling.
  • Training for older children (15–18 years) in Pattachitra painting (traditional storytelling art), Jatra performance (folk theatre) and Water hyacinth handicraft for eco-friendly income generation
  • Parent engagement & awareness on child rights and education continuity.
