As one of the most cyclone-prone islands in the Sundarbans, Ghoramara lacks stable electricity even in its emergency shelters. To ensure dignified and secure refuge during disasters, SEED solar-electrified its multipurpose cyclone shelter with a rooftop PV system and battery backup. Beyond emergency use, the facility now doubles as a clean energy-powered learning and community hub, hosting awareness programs, training, and women-led activities. This project models how solar power can reinforce disaster resilience in last-mile regions.
